This report is going to describe the way the team has worked in a team and the way it has used the team management skill. This project also has used the CVF, which is known as Competing Values Framework. It is one of the most effective tools in management to ensure proper training and development. It helps business organizations to identify the underlying dimensions of human and organizational activities. In terms of organization, it helps in analyzing the position of the organization in both internal and external environments. However, this reflective report is going to describe the way the project team has evaluated different areas of team management and the learning from it.

Reflection on the group work using teamwork and motivation theories

This group project has helped us to learn various things from it. On one hand, I have got a deeper understanding of the theories and models of motivation and team management. In this entire process, I have got enormous support from my teammates. In this project, we have mainly discussed the CVF process used by Steve Jobs and the way he has used it to motivate and manage his teams to ensure success. In the following sections, I am going to elaborate on the theories and models that I have learned in my group project.

2.1. Belbin’s theory of Team Role

Belbin's Theory of motivation suggests that the leadership has a specific job role in a particular team and the leader is also responsible to develop strengths as well as weaknesses of team members, In this way, the leader can improve his/her contribution to the team (Bednár, and Ljudvigová, 2020). In the Belbin Team Role Model, Belbin has identified 9 team roles by characterizing the roles into three groups, which includes action-oriented roles, people-oriented roles, and thought oriented roles. The first group includes three characteristics such as shaper, implementer, and complete finisher. The second group includes the coordinator, team worker, and resource investigators. Finally, the third group includes plant, monitor evaluator, and specialist. Each character has a specific job role in a team and in my project, I have also experienced the different roles of every team member. Segregation of the job roles helps the team to perform appropriately and deliver their best to the project.

2.2. Tuckman’s theory of team management

According to Taka et al., 2022, Tuckman's theory of team management despite being established in the 1960s, it is still relevant today. This theory says that every team has a different way to give high performance. He added four stages in this cycle and later he added on more stages in the cycle, this includes forming, storming, norming, performing and mourning. The forming stage refers to the process of team formation and collaboration. In the storming stage, people start pushing against the established boundaries that may raise conflicts. In the norming and performing stage, people start resolving the issues and perform accordingly. At the final stage, people get redeployed. We also have gone through these stages in our group project.

2.3. Content theories

2.3.1. Maslow Hierarchy of needs

This theory was developed by Abraham Maslow that motivates people with the help of five basic categories of need, this includes physiological safety, love, esteem and self-actualization. These five stages started to emerge when people felt satisfied with their previous needs, Throu8gh many theories do not support Maslow's theory but it influenced the psychological needs of the employees. In this group project also we have faced many needs which are sometimes fulfilled with love but equally we have been influenced by different issues which later we have tried to resolve with self-esteem and actualization.

2.3.2. Hertzberg two factor motivational theories

This theory says that salary and safety need to be maintained in an organization to prevent dissatisfaction. However, there are a number of other motivating factors, including recognition and autonomy that helps in establishing happiness in a workplace. Proper implementation of this theory helps in recognising the works of employees; it makes the workers productive, committed, and creative. By implementing this theory our leader has helped us in developing our skills and engagement towards the group project and work with more passion (Özsoy, 2019).

3.0. Describing oneself using CVFs Action Imperatives

Through the effective implementation of CVF, I have seen that organizations can maintain their operational strategies and performance level to meet their vision, mission and objectives. There are main factors that influence the organizational strategy such as flexibility and stability, as well as internal and external. While implementing this model in our group project I have seen that if the leader focuses on flexibility and external development he/she becomes more creative and future-oriented (Youtu, 2012). At the same time, when the leader remains more focused on internal performance and stability he/she focuses on controlling the organizational operations. In contrast, when a leader is more focused on external impacts and stability the leader becomes more competitive. Finally, the leader who looks into flexibility and internal operation becomes more collaborative towards the teammates. I have experienced the first and final quadrants in my group project. My leader was so creative and the leader had a brief idea regarding our skills and knowledge. He has distributed the tasks accordingly so that we can perform well. This shows the ability or tendency to become future centric rather than being within a circle. Along with this, my leader was also collaborative and that has helped I and my teammates have gathered to maintain collaborative and cooperative situation for performing the group project in appropriate manner. With the help of this model, we have successfully gone through different ups and downs but in the end, we have completed the tasks within the given time by maintaining our responsibilities so well (Youtu, 2012). 

4.0. Conclusion

From this overall analysis, it can be said that evaluating self-work is very much important to understand the strengths and weaknesses. If we can successfully evaluate our strengths and weaknesses then we will be able to improve our weaknesses and can be engaged more with the team members. This project has helped me in learning the importance of teamwork and collaboration to achieve success in any work. Team management, however, is a difficult task that without strong motivation and skill is not possible to implement and achieve success.
