Need for Implementing the Cloud Computing in TravelShoot

Cloud computing delivers the computing services by sharing information, resources, and important software over a network (Internet). Cloud computing is the fastest growing technology that is impacting every sector and hospitality industry is no exception (Alshamaila, et.al, 2013). In fact, one can observe that travel industry is the ideal business to implement the cloud solution. Travelshoot is planning to improvise the travel experience of the clients. Therefore, it is developing linkage with the regional photographers in order to provide customers with high-quality pictures of their whole trip. This may require a large data storage device as the files are heavy and transferring them to the clients can be very time-consuming and troublesome. The company aims at delivering the pictures to the customers within a week. This is quite difficult for the company and may consume a large number of resources of the organisation. Apart from this, the company focuses on tourists of various age groups with different demands. Therefore, satisfying their needs may be very challenging for the company. Furthermore, the company often faces system failure issues, especially in peak demand seasons. This is due to storing a large amount of data on the primary server of the company. To all the aforementioned issues of Travelshoot, there is only one solution which is called "Cloud Computing" solutions. This can provide an online extra storage that is accessible from everywhere. Thus, making it simple for the clients, customers, and organisation to access or store information on to it (Alshamaila, et.al, 2013).

Benefits of Cloud Computing in the Travel Industry

In today’s time and age, cloud computing has a high demand in travel and tourism industry. In other words, the travel sector is one of the leading sectors that has adopted cloud storage and solutions in almost every aspect of the business. There many benefits for TravelShoot if it completely implement the cloud computing:-

  • Scalability: As mentioned in the previous report, the majority of the business of TravelShoot is seasonal. The demands shoot up in the festive seasons, such as Christmas and summer. This hangs the existing on-site servers. The cloud provides the organization with a scalable solution in order to combat the seasonal rush. Travelshoot can decrease or increase the cloud storage in accordance with the seasonal demand.
  • Security: Since the organisation has to deal with a large amount of the personal information, such as credit card information, passwords, etc., the security is the major concern for the company. Cloud providers are making it the safest option for the travel company by making the data safe through encrypted solutions, backup, firewalls, etc., (Ali, et.al, 2015).
  • Mobility: By making use of the cloud services, customers can have an access to the shared applications, websites, and other booking tools at any time at any place. All they required is an Internet connection. This way cloud solutions are improving the mobility.
  • Competition: Since the cloud solutions provide a superior uptime, it offers Travelshoot a competitive edge over other peers. Cloud can improve the uptime by more than 99.9%.
  • Software: If TravelShoot decides to expand the business in other fields that would require a stable server to host a wide variety of software and websites, then cloud can be appropriate options (Ali, et.al, 2015).

Proposed Business Model

The business model has been changed so as to adopt the cloud computing solutions in the organisation. The proposed business model of Travelshoot is given below:-

  • Customer segments: As the cloud computing solutions are user-friendly, these can be used by the tourists belonging to different age group. The target audience includes children, adults, and old people.
  • Key Partners: These include the service providers who will provide the cloud computing solutions. These partners can be Google, Cetrom, Microsoft, etc.
  • Value Proposition: To provide an enhanced level of comfort and experience of travelling and making their journey worth a memoir.
  • Key Activities: Storing high-quality photographs on cloud storage, providing access to the photographs to the customers, and managing the servers by making use of cloud computing.
  • Channel: The service can be promoted through the official sites, advertisements in newspaper, TV, radio, and by the other key partners.
  • Revenue Stream: An increase in the overall revenue is anticipated here due to increase in a number of bookings as this approach is quite unique in itself.
  • Cost Structure: The overall cost of implementing the cloud computing has been classed into various categories, namely cost of cloud computing software, training cost, and salary of the photographers travel bookings, payments to the hospitality service providers.
  • Key Resources: a major resource of Travelshoot is its collaboration with other travel organisations, such as RACQ, Travel Group, HelloWorld, Flight Centre, etc.
  • Customer Relationships: To develop a strong bond with the customers, regular feedbacks are taken about their experience on the whole trip. Information regarding the newly adopted cloud storage technique is also collected.

Critical Success Factors to be taken care of during the execution phase of the idea

Travelshoot is not an IT firm but a travel firm. Therefore, it has to outsource IT and that’s why it eagerly seeks the benefits that cloud computing has to offer. The initial journey with the cloud computing can be a bit rough as one has to make changes in the existing organisational structure. Some of the factors that are important for the smoother path of the execution are discussed in here (González-Martínez, et.al, 2015).

  • The organisation has to put in some extra efforts to explore the options for an ideal partner. For that purpose, Troubleshoot has to establish a new due diligence option. Since the cloud computing option is new to everyone within the organisation, the company has to educate its all internal stakeholders to make them familiar with the cloud storage technology.
  • With higher technology comes the higher responsibility and risks. Troubleshoot has to deal with the personal data of the clients and customers. It is their responsibility to pay more attention to data protection and security. The cloud storage stores data online, thereby making the data vulnerable as it may get stolen.
  • Travelshoot has to provide more time to help the business adjust to the cloud computing. The implementation of cloud computing requires a new contracting process, different governance approach, and unique plans (González-Martínez, et.al, 2015).
  • The management of Troubleshoot has to think beyond the integration plan for cloud computing with the organisational structure. There are many complexities that the company has to face while the implementation phase is ongoing. For this purpose, the management should have some productive and fruitful interaction with the cloud service providers.
