Blog1: Personal reflection on the learning made during module
Reflection is delineated as a piece of academic writing that enables students to reflect upon their learning. In the present blog, I will be reflecting on two contextual learning undertaken during modules and those are- “Value based-practice in health and social care” and “Importance of values in evidence-based medicine”. Main Body
This module provided me significant opportunities in terms of understanding the domains aligned with value-based practices and its implication in evidence-based medicines. I have learned that value-based practices are explicated as an approach that supports clinical decision making. It provides practical domains and techniques for eliciting service users values via empowering them (Teisberg, Wallace and O’Hara, 2020). In health and social care context, evidences play pivotal role as based on this, clinical implications can be undertaken. I can say that, I have developed detailed insights regarding value-based practices. Healthcare professionals, practitioners and other service providers are guided to consider decisions while focusing on evidence as this promotes in undertaking evidence-based decisions. There is no doubt in articulating that I have gained varied benefits throughout these modules. I can imply this learning in future context while interacting with patient, I will undertake decisions by considering value-based evidences as it enhances patient outcomes to greater extent. Topics related to value-based practice and its implication has stood for me throughout these modules as it is linked with ethical components.
In health and social care context major ethics aligns with prioritising the needs of patient without developing harm for them. By considering value-based practices I will contribute in prioritising the health and needs of patients. In this manner, I will be able to perform social good via complying with ethics. During this module, I have learned that evidence-based practices adhere with the integration of clinical expertise and therefore, it must be implied. The procedure of Evidence-based medicines [EBM] can be enhanced by considering the values of patient, linking value-based approaches with EBM is complies with humanitarian principles which promotes ethics in clinical setting. (Michaels, 2021). Thus, I will use this learning in future as this would enable me to undertake important ethics within my practices. My core motive will be aligned with enhancing patient outcomes within incorporating value-based evidences in practices and prescription of medicines. I can say that I have learned about the importance of ethical compliance in healthcare setting and I will imply this in future.
Conclusion
Conclusively I can say that this module led to develop significant insights related to value-based practices and its implication in healthcare practices and prescription of medicines. I got to know that ethical compliance is important in healthcare and therefore, I will incorporate evidence-based practices in future.
Blog 2: Reflection on key communication and practice skills acquired in the module
Introduction
In present blog I will be reflecting on key communication and practice skills I have gained during module. For writing reflection I will use Gibb’s reflective model, this is one of the effectual reflective models that enables learners to reflect upon their learning while focusing on different components. Description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and action plan are the major stages of Gibb’s reflective cycle (Adeani et al, 2020).
Main Body
During this module I have got significant opportunity which led enhance key communication skills in me. In future I want to become health and social care professional and for that effective communication is essential. While interacting with patient, a sense of belongingness is required to be developed in them and this becomes possible via communicating with them. At the beginning of module, I was not able to share my thoughts and opinions with tutor due to decreased self-esteem. This impacted my capabilities in terms of speaking; however, my tutor has consistently supported me and I started to express my views. I have taken part in group assessments and discussion which provided me opportunity to speak up. Hence, I can say that I have developed verbal communication such as speaking and listening.
I got to know that communication skill is just not limited to speaking it also concerned with listening domain. Therefore, I started to listen my group members and this contributed in developing effectual bond with them. In this manner, I was able to implement effectual bond with them. Other practice skills that have been developed in me during this module associated with emotional intelligence and empathy, I have become able to understand the emotions of other people and this significantly supported me in terms of developing effectual interaction with them. In my future profession these skills will enable me to empower patients while understanding their issues. I will consistently listen to them so that I can understand their issues and accordingly emotional intelligence capabilities will be used. Thus, I can say that during this module I have effectively focused on developing communication skills by practicing varied presentations along with participating in group program. I will use these skills in future while interacting with patient and this supports in developing effectual bond with them (Aveyard, 2023). In health and social care, communication plays an important role as it sets the basis for interacting and understanding patient (Raeissi et al, 2024). Therefore, I will implement specific focus on this area and I will use these skills in future. Hence, I am going to implement this learning in future while interacting with patients so that effectual outcomes can be gained and significant support could be assured to patient.
Conclusion
Conclusively I can say that I have developed speaking and listening abilities along with emotional intelligence and EI capabilities. I will use this learning in future so that I can effectively interact with patient and subsequently, their health outcomes could be enhanced.
