Introduction Of Reflective Essay And Personal Development Plan For Future Career In Public Service
This essay will be a self-reflection on the knowledge and abilities I've gained from a course on public service, followed by a personal development plan (PDP) to fill in any gaps. The show in question was about helping the community. As per the views of Kuziemski and Misuraca (2020), skills like communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership that I honed in the classroom have served me well in a variety of professional and personal settings. Gaining these skills has given me a leg up in the competition for future jobs in the public sector, I'm sure. However, I'm well aware that there are still fields like project management and financial management where I need to hone my abilities further. The purpose of this reflective essay is to evaluate my growth and learning in light of Gibbs' Reflective Model. In the Personal Development Plan section, I will detail the steps I will take to improve my skills (Berman et al. 2021).

Reflection using Gibbs' Reflective Model:
- Description:After completing the public service module, I feel much better prepared to pursue a career in the public sector, which is one of my lifelong aspirations. In particular, I have strengthened my ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, as well as my ability to critically analyze challenging situations and develop creative solutions in tandem with others (Qing et al. 2020). Having learned more about the underlying principles and philosophies of the public service sector, I now have a much better grasp of the challenges that this field faces.
- Feelings:As a consequence of this session, I have a sense of accomplishment and confidence in my abilities that I didn't have before. However, I get the sense that I still need to fill in some gaps in my knowledge and experience (Lindgren et al. 2019). For instance, I want to improve my knowledge and skills in project management and financial management in the public sector.
- Evaluation:In summary, I am confident that the skills and knowledge I have gained via completing this unit will prove invaluable to me as I work toward my ultimate career objectives. The chances I've had to put these theories into reality, through group projects and case studies, have substantially enriched my understanding. However, I am cognizant of the fact that I have room for improvement in several areas, notably project management and financial management (Ferlie and Ongaro, 2022).
- Analysis:My plan is to take a course in project management and then seek ways to put what I learn into practice through internships and other service activities. In order to maximize the impact of my efforts on any given project, I will design a project management strategy in advance. The project's objectives, timeline, and required materials will all be laid out in depth in this plan (Christensen et al. 2020). In addition, I plan to ask for feedback from peers and superiors alike to hone my project management skills.
Similarly, I plan to take a course on public sector finance and look for opportunities to work with financial data and budgets to enhance my administrative skills in this area. When I take on a new project, I always make sure to create a budget for it beforehand. The budget, funding, and reporting requirements for the project will all be laid out in depth in this plan. I plan on consulting with peers and more experienced individuals to develop my skills in the area of financial management.
I hope to find a role in which I may manage projects and lead teams in order to develop my leadership skills. To further aid me in pinpointing my growth areas, I want to canvass the opinions of my peers and superiors. I will put forth the effort to establish my own leadership philosophy, outlining the core beliefs and ideas that will inform my actions as a leader.
My goal is to have more experience assessing challenging situations and developing solutions while making use of such frameworks. As mentioned by (De Vries et al. 2019), this will aid in developing my analytical abilities. I intend to seek out internships and volunteer opportunities that will allow me to apply my critical thinking skills to real-world problems. I plan to ask peers and teachers for constructive feedback to help me hone my critical thinking skills.
Conclusion:
In sum, I have reflected on what I've learned in this course about public service and set specific, measurable goals to help me learn anything I might be missing. Developing my skills in project management, financial management, leadership, and critical thinking will make me more marketable in the public sector and give me a greater opportunity to make a positive impact on the world.
