Overview

With the rising demand for aerial devices for various purposes, many research and developments projects for unmanned aerial vehicles have been started. These devices have the capabilities to carry out various military and other civilian operations, such as border patrolling& surveillance, collecting temperature and weather data, measuring humidity, and sensing the presence of toxic gas, and many more. The overall purpose of this project is to invent an aerial robot armed with different low-cost sensors like humidity sensor, temperature sensor, andgas detector. The device will be able to fly without a human's direct control. The overall business idea is based on the development of aerial robot device designed on ZIGBEE microcontroller as an interface (Sahal &Sharma). The major features of the device are a humidity sensor, temperature sensor, VGA camera, and humidity sensor. The device could be able to fly up to the range of 2 to 4 feet above the ground. The overall time needed to launch the product in the market is 14 months and the cost incurred in the process will be approximately $500,000

The project’s success would be decided by the performance indicators and success factors. The performance indicators are characterized by the product’s ability to align with the project goals (Serrador& Pinto, 2015). These can be tested by project’s ability to assist the firm to achieve an increment in the market share by at least 3% and profit margin by at least 2%. For this purpose, the product saleshould be able to outrun its overall cost of development. The overall budget of the project is $500,000AUD. The cost of each aerial device is $6000 AUD. In the first stage, 300 units will be produced by the company. A minimum of 50% sale is anticipated. Therefore, the revenue generated by selling 150 units is $900,000 AUD. The company will be able to generate the profit of $1.8 million AUD.

Management Approach

Since the project is developing a technological model, the requirement of which will be continuously changing. Therefore, there is a need for project management model which is iterative and grows with time. For that purpose, the interactive and incremental project managementhas been chosen. It will help in dealing with the ever-changing technology and scope of the project (Kerzner& Kerzner, 2017). The development of the aerial robot is quite dynamic and require extreme agile project management. The project cannot be completed in a go and need repetitive action to be performed. This approach would help the team members to keep a regular check on problems associated with the problems and make changes in the constantly evolving system.

Scope Planning

The overall aerial robot development project has been bifurcated into four stages. The first stage is collecting requirement. This would result in project scope description, design acceptance criteria, deliverables, and exclusion of the project.
