Part A

Healthcare industry of the United Kingdom is considered as international leaders in terms of innovation along with life sciences. There are many small, medium and large healthcare organisations in the UK that operates 24 hours and offer their services to the patients. These healthcare organisations have excellent team of professionals who always perform their duties in appropriately (Stadick, 2020). Healthcare professionals work together and contribute to obtain goals. But, it is crucial for the organisations to have knowledge about different human factors. It will be helpful for increase the effect on inter-professional collaboration along with the safety of the patient (Karatas et al, 2022). There are lots of human factors such as; communication, critical thinking, teamwork, working environment, work patterns, attitudes, personality, knowledge and competence. It is most important for the organisations to focus on different human factors instead of focusing on only one or two factors (Reiman et al, 2021). Human factors utilise the variety of scientific methods which are taken from the neuroscience, biology and psychology in order to study the behaviour and performance of the human or healthcare professionals.

Communication is most valuable human factor that heavily affects the performance, productivity and inter-professional collaboration in the workplace. Healthcare workers interact with each other in a confident manner and effectively reduce the possibilities of mistakes and errors in their treatment procedure. Effective communication encourages professionals to work collaboratively which in result improves the safety of the patient and clinical performance (Bucsuházy et al, 2020). On the other hand, lack of communication among professionals can increase many problems and challenges for healthcare systems. It can also negatively impact the health and safety of the patient which reduce the trust of the people for particular hospital. Poor communication places professionals at increased risk because of misinterpretation and insufficient information. Ineffective communication influences the hierarchy procedure and therefore weakens the effectiveness of inter-professional collaboration within healthcare. A working environment in which open discussion among workers is discouraged is usually generated stiffing collaboration as staff members are unlikely to share their thoughts, ideas and opinions and provide feedback and suggestions (Neumann et al, 2021). So, organisations can overcome the issues and challenges regarding patient safety through encourage open discussion and communication and improve the professional collaboration.

The other human factor is teamwork that assists in increasing collaboration between professionals and patient’s health and well-being. Teamwork is collaboration among group of people driven by common goals supported by the managers. The main purpose behind teamwork in the workplace is to encourage honest discussion and improve problem-solving. Teamwork is necessary factor in making sure that safety of the patients is guaranteed because it decreases the negative influences which are likely to produce from miscommunication and misinterpretation between healthcare workers (Buljac-Samardzic et al, 2020). Quality and effective teamwork increase the satisfaction and engagement of workers towards their jobs. It will further help to improve the patient outcomes. An organisation that does not focus on teamwork can increase the stress in the workplace. Workers can feel overburdened and pressurised by doing work alone all the time that can negatively affect their performance and productivity. Poor teamwork can also increase the power imbalance in hierarchy systems. Healthcare professionals at upper levels are likely to have more power, therefore influencing crucial decisions regarding treatment that can impact the patients as well as other care givers (Thomason, 2021). So, healthcare organisations can focus on teamwork to improve the wellbeing of patients.

Personality is another crucial human factor which can impact the interprofessional collaboration and treatment process of the patient. It is not essential that all workers have similar skills, interests and attitudes. Healthcare workers can have different perspectives and attitudes towards the problems. So, it is most important for the organisations to consider the personality traits of each healthcare worker and assign the duties accordingly (Gualtieri et al, 2021). It will be helpful for the health care organisations to increase the collaboration between workers so that they can give best care to the patient. If organisations do not consider personality traits while giving tasks and assigning duties then it can impact their overall work performance. Through knowing the personality traits, organisations can make better workplace culture (Schoch-Spana et al, 2021). It can foster the inter-professional collaboration along with the patient outcomes. If healthcare workers from various background and personality types work with each other then they can deliver better quality care and treatment to the patient. Effective collaboration is the ultimate objective of IPE (inter-professional education).

All the three human factors such as communication, teamwork and personality can contribute in improving collaboration and patient safety. I am working in the healthcare organisation as care givers and I believe that it communication, teamwork etc. are highly helpful for a worker (Chen and Gong, 2022). By effective communication, a healthcare worker can express their views regarding any treatment process and clear their doubts. Because of good communication, professionals can easily work in team and carry out their duties effectively. If worker has strong communication then they can interact with patient without any difficulties and understand their problems. It can also help in providing best treatment to the patient according to their choice that improve their health and safety. If healthcare workers work in teamwork then it can provide benefits in solving the complex issues and problems that helps to achieve organisational objectives (Murray and Cope, 2021). Teamwork will allow workers to express their views freely and use own skills, abilities and knowledge to offer the treatment to the patient.

I always try to work in partnership so that, I can learn from my team members to increase my knowledge and skills. Healthcare workers are likely to perform the same kind of activities, tasks and duties repeatedly (Amarneh and Al Nobani, 2022). So, in this situation collaboration or partnership can help to conduct duties on time with accuracy. Lack of group work can produce the communication barriers which influence the exchange of valuable information among workers. Health care professionals in lower levels may feel doubtful to express their point of views as well as concerns. Patient safety is endangered when interaction among workers collapses as caregiving involves specialised and difficult treatment that requires good teamwork and strong communication (Carayon et al, 2021). An effective group work, communication and identification of personality can be useful in improving the patient outcomes.

Individuals have various attitudes, behaviours, abilities, skills, habits, personalities and experiences. In the workplace, these kind of differences can be act as strengths as well as weaknesses according to the work (Alsabri et al, 2022). If an organisation highly focuses on human factors then employees who did not take interest in their work will also take interest in their work. I personally believe that by team work I will be able to understand the symptoms and signs of illness. Human factors provide the possibility for conveying the next step alteration in enhancing the safety performance along with enhancing the environmental, quality and organisational performance (Muusse et al, 2023). Human factor impacts the work performance by making sure a good fit among workers, equipment they utilise, activity they perform and environment where they work.

An organisation cannot change the human circumstances but they can make tasks, plans and procedures in a way that focuses on human imperfections. This essay has critically evaluated the health factors such as; teamwork, personality and communication and their impact. Communication, team work and personal abilities are three factors that can help the health care workers to work with other practitioners and improve own knowledge and skills. This report has identified that because of ineffective communication, a care giver feel difficulties to perform their duties and cannot give proper treatment to the patient. Conversely, health care professionals who confidently interact with their co-workers and senior doctors can achieve success in their life.
