Obesity is expounded as one of the severe health complexities that is impacting quality of life [QoL] of individuals. This is delineated as real health and social care issue as challenges of obesity are persisting to greater and significantly increasing in children. (Gómez-del-Río et al, 2020). This article developed important insights related to significance of health promotion in order to reduce challenges of obesity. Families and schools are accountable for playing pivotal role in teaching children with regards to adopting healthy eating habits. This knowledge would be implied in study and practice area and accordingly, awareness related to the ways in which childhood obesity can be reduce going to be develop.

2 Source- Role of Empathy in Health and Social Care

Empathy signifies about the morals and values required for understanding personal experiences and issues of patients. In this article, it was evident that, communication is considered as important element for health and social care worker as this supports in developing empathetic understanding while tackling patient (Moudatsou et al, 2020). This article proves to be important as it complies with important domain of health and social care and that is empathy through which trust of patient can be gained. This learning will be applied while conducting research in empathy context and its importance for patient recovery.

3 Source- Family-centred care in COVID-19

In COVID-19, family centred care has been proven pivotal; this supported in providing consistent support to patient and their children and they have received care from professional partnership. Through this study, it was analysed that healthcare professionals believes that each family is unique and often their requirements are different (Hart et al, 2020). Thereby, as per the requirements of individuals care should be provided to them. This approach wad adopted at the time of pandemic and this led to develop significant support for families. This study developed understanding and knowledge regarding importance of family-centred care and this learning will be used in future role while providing care services to families.

4 Source- Role of Palliative Care

The results of the article signified that palliative care requires in burn management; evidence-based guidelines have been followed and accordingly, actions are integrated for supporting patients who have suffered from burns (Bayuo et al, 2020). Palliative care complies with supporting patient in their end-of-life care and develops resilience capabilities in them. This learning will be used while conducting research in the context of palliative care. Furthermore, in future principles of palliative care will be implied for supporting those patients who are receiving end-of-life care treatment.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy [CBT] mention to that kind of psychological treatment which has been given to patients suffering from mental health complexities such as anxiety, depression and stress. This article is highlighting about the extent of health inequalities existing in the United Kingdom. Health disparities in UK has become the major concern behind increasing rate of chronic health issues. Vulnerable population and individuals belong from lower-socio economic background are not able to access the services. Social determinants of health such as; poverty, education, socio-economic conditions and many more leading to health inequalities in UK (Smith et al, 2021). The study has been focusing on important area within health and social care; by reviewing this article realistic reason behind rising health inequalities can be identified and further focus could be implied on the measures which are important in this context (Cash-Gibson, Martinez-Herrera and Benach, 2023). Therefore, this article has been selected and subsequently, outcomes would be used to gain important insights related to health inequality existing in the UK.

Evidence regarding health inequalities persisting from past few decades. The findings of the article depicted that UK has been experiencing national health inequalities escorted by lack of political recognition and concern. Widespread recognition and concern related to health disparities requires to be noticed by policy makers. There is need to adopt a more robust approach for analysing the loopholes leading to health disparities (Cash-Gibson, Martinez-Herrera and Benach, 2023). Health inequalities have been experienced among different groups of people and this has been further categorised in four main categories such as socio-economic components, region, ethnicity and socially excluded group. Historic discrimination, lack of awareness, structural racism and on-going poverty are the major causes behind increasing health disparities (Cash-Gibson, Martinez-Herrera and Benach, 2023). Each individual has right in terms of receiving quality and equal healthcare services. However, structured approach within society creating significant complexities in this context and there is need to imply appropriate focus on this.
There is need to create awareness in people regarding their rights specifically in the people who are from lower socio-economic background (Case and Kraftman, 2024). Hence, the research has presented aspects related to generating high volume of health inequalities over past decades in the UK. The research adopted a novel process and accordingly, mechanism and contextual conditions behind increasing extent of health inequalities in the UK has been identified.

The main arguments of author are revolving around the loopholes leading to greater health disparities. The focus has been implied on understanding evidence-based researches so that evidence-based decision making can be undertaken and significant support to people can be assured. The arguments were presented in well-mannered and issues behind health disparities were presented in appropriate manner (Cash-Gibson, Martinez-Herrera and Benach, 2023). Author stated that; it is important to undertake a coping mechanism that resolves the issues and ensure equality within healthcare services. Equality is at the core of healthcare which means each individual has right to receive quality healthcare services (Cash-Gibson, Martinez-Herrera and Benach, 2023). Discrimination is persisting due to structured pattern in society and there is need to take measures in this context so that significant support can be assured to people.
Healthcare services should be provided to each individual instead of judging them on the basis of their religion, background or caste. There is need to adopt a robust approach and consistent research should be taken for implementing evidence-based decision (Cash-Gibson, Martinez-Herrera and Benach, 2023). Furthermore, policymakers should implement a monitoring approach so that evaluation can be done whether people from lower socio-economic background are receiving equal quality care not (Stennett and Tsakos, 2022). Thus, these were the main arguments presented by author and these are revolving around contextual information links with health inequalities in the UK.

The main strengths and weaknesses of the article

Strengths

The author has effectively presented all the information revolving around research aim. This shows that author has presented information in effective manner and research question was addressed accordingly. The evidence-based research has been undertaken and subsequently, effective synthesis of findings was done. Detailed information regarding the methodology was given in the article and it was mentioned that; realist explanatory case study was conducted which involves 12 semi-structured interviews (Cash-Gibson, Martinez-Herrera and Benach, 2023). Further, data from interviews and scientific literature was triangulated for informing the findings. This knowledge can be used for guiding future health inequalities research capacities along with strategies that can tackle health inequalities. Thus, these were the major strengths within study and this led to enhance the efficacy of outcomes.

Weaknesses

Certain weaknesses identified in the study is that there was lack of detailed information regarding the proposed strategies for tackling health inequalities. Further, there was no comparison between these tactics was done and major focus implied on conducting more evidence-based research so that evidence-based outcomes could be promoted. Thus, author was lacking in this area; focusing on this context could have made outcomes more effective.

How could be applied in the future as an HSC student / practitioner

This article has supported me in terms of identifying the crucial factors leading to health inequalities in the UK. As a Health and social care student or practitioner it is my accountability to look upon such disparities and further appropriate and ethical actions are required to be taken for reducing the extent of discrimination. I will focus on this area and my motive aligns with providing quality care to all individuals. I will never judge them on the basis of their caste, background, religion, education or financial status. Furthermore, I am going to use this learning in future research based on health inequalities; in-depth understanding regarding this context will be gain and strategies that addresses social determinants of health and issues related to health disparities will be explore. Hence, I can say that this article has supported me in gaining detailed insights and reason associated behind increasing health inequalities in UK. In my belief, it is accountability of each individual to raise their voice in against of this discrimination; a collaborative approach can bring a positive change in society.
