However, in 1994 as per the denuclearization program the government of Ukraine destroyed all the nuclear weapons that were left behind by Russia but nuclear power plants existed that generated almost half of the electricity of Ukraine. Thus, as per different recent news reports Putin feared that all those nuclear power plants could fall into the hands of America after Ukraine joins NATO and this nuclear infrastructure could be used by them to help Ukraine develop nuclear weapons (Getzner&Moroz, 2022). Thus, fearing the future threat to their territorial integrity and national security Russia invaded Ukraine after officially declaring war.

The war led to heavy encircling, shelling and bombardment of military infrastructure, some residential buildings, schools and hospitals of major cities and ports of Ukraine such as Kyive, Mariupol,Kherson, Kharkiv, Odessa and others.
