Introduction Of Business Improvement And Change

Task 1: Business process

In this project, the strategy for the success of the business of “Boston Dynamics” was envisaged. This was done to find out the ease of expansion of this company in Europe. To do this, a BPMN 2.0 model was created.

The full name of BPMN is “Business Process Management & Notation”. This is considered to be a modelling standard. The main use of this is it helps in the mapping of the business process. This is done by creating a business model (Bouwman et al. 2019). There can be seen the representation of the internal process of the business in a graphical form. With the help of this organizations can decide how they can set the internal communication process.

In contrast to the other processes of modelling of business, this tool helps in making the stakeholders of the business understand the process of business well. As this entire process is graphically represented so this becomes easily understandable to everyone. There are different elements present in this. The main elements that are part of this tool are “flow objects”, “data”, “connecting objects”, “swimlanes”, and “artefacts”.

Different types of BPMN can be observed.

The first type of this is called “Document-centric” BPMN. The main this that is shown here is the preparation of documents that goes through the different approvals. The most used application of this can be seen in the process of creating “legal documents”. The journey of a document through the different stakeholders is shown here. In this process, the input is taken from several people & the document is created after the approval of the documents.

The next one is called “integration-centric” BPMN. In this, the main work that is done is to integrate the business software of the company with the for solving the problems of the company. In addition to this, the flow of data is also maintained in this process (Lazirkha et al. 2022). Hence, with the use of the software, the work progresses faster.

Another BPMN that is used is called “Human-centric” BPMN. One of the main characteristics of this is that in this there is a need for intervention in humans. In the other form of BPMNs, it can be seen that the process is automatic where making changes in between is not possible. On the other hand in this BPMN, because of the involvement of humans, there is a chance of making changes in the process.

The process that is going to be followed by the company is as follows.

The process of working for the company is described here in the form of BPMN 2.0. It is to be noted that “Boston Dynamics” is a company that prepares robots & robotic parts. There is an increasing demand for these items can be seen in Europe (Christa et al. 2020). For this reason, a proper sequence of activities or process plan was prepared from placing an order to the product reaching its customer. The process is as follows.

The first thing that will be on this list is the placing of an order. This is the thing that is done from the side of the customer. It is the only process that is not controlled by the company. This company is well established in the USA. So, the demand for the products of it may be less in Europe at the start (Sjödin et al. 2020). Although irrespective of the demand for the products the process of this company should be carried out according to the decided process. After receiving the order the capacity of the company for fulfilling the order is planned to be investigated. It is known that the demands of different customers may be different from each other. So, it is better to check first whether it is possible to fulfill the requirements of the customer. If not possible feedback is provided to the customer. If it is possible then the confirmation of the order be forwarded to both the customer & the manufacturer (Mokhnenko et al. 2021). In addition to this, after confirming the availability of materials is checked by the different suppliers. Based on this, the suppliers who can deliver all the materials are chosen for taking raw materials. After getting the raw materials the manufacturer prepares the item that is required by the customer. After the preparation of the desired item, the order is delivered to the customer. Next, if all the parts are not obtained by the customer the order is rejected by the customer. If obtained then also positive feedback from the customer is obtained.

Task 2: Implementation plan

In this project, the strategies for transforming the strategy of the business of “Boston Dynamics” was determined. The decision process for making this is as follows.

Figure 2: Implementation Plan

Implementation Plan

(Source: Self-created)

Strategy

The first step that is needed to be implemented is making a proper strategy of business first. The strategies should not be based on how much the company wants to achieve. Rather than it should be focused on practically how much the company can achieve. So, by analyzing the current level of competition the company can decide its strategies to cope with its competitors (Kraus et al. 2021). It is to be noted that it becomes easy to transform the business when the strategies are clear and easy to implement.

Establishing Leadership

It is to be noted that leadership plays an important role in the success of a business. It is because of the decisions taken by the leader the entire work of the company depends. This decides the success or failure of the business process. For this purpose, it is needed to assign good business leaders in the process of making changes to the business process. There are different processes involved in this. Some of these are preparation & controlling the budget & ming sure that the business objectives are met.

Planning & scoping

This is the step where the entire strategy is taken to another level. It is known that for the implementation of the plans, it is needed that proper planning is done for the process. For doing this it is needed to find out the different factors that are needed to be considered for transforming the business. Moreover, the processes of work are decided in this step (Wamba et al. 2020). In addition to this, an assessment is done for the identification of the potential changes that are going to take place because of this transformation.

Figure 3: Gantt Chart of Program Management

Gantt Chart of Program Management

(Source: Self-created in Project Libre)

Program Management

It can be seen that there are many programs taking place in a process at the same time. So, it is required to appoint managers for each of these tasks who can transform each of these processes. The departments like HR, “finance”, “IT” and others are the places where transformational managers are appointed.

Build Resource

A company cannot be equipped with all the necessary resources for transforming its business. For this reason, it is required to take help from outside. This refers to hiring experienced persons from outside of the company.

Execution

It is to be noted that the transformation of a business is not a short process. It takes a lot of time depending on the size & strategy of the company for the completion of transformation. For this reason, it is required to appoint staffs who can implement the plans daily.

Integration

It is to be noted that it always becomes hard to adapt the new strategies by the employees. So, it is needed to make arrangements for training the employees for adapting to the new strategies (Aldianto et al. 2021). Moreover, integration of the works of the works of the different departments is also a necessary step.

Bloom's Taxonomy

The critical tasks for the transformation of the business can be described with the help of Bloom`s Taxonomy. The first thing that is needed to be done is to prepare the scope of development of this company. Then it is needed to find out the possible options for making these changes. After this, an analysis of the processes that are needed to be employed for this purpose is needed to find out. Applications of the methods are the next step. Understanding the results is the next step. After this, finding out the effectiveness of the applied methods is necessary for finding out the extent of improvement of the business.

Task 3: Change management models

Here able to evaluate critically two proper change management models. These selective models have the accessibility that able to implement the transformation of a business plan effectively. This report plans to assess two change-the-board models and survey their significance in effectively executing the proposed business change at Cultivate and Accomplices, in a joint effort with Boston Elements. The goal is to investigate the way that Boston Elements' mechanical technology administrations can be used to change project site activities, further developing proficiency and efficiency in the US as a robotics service.

In this project, there are different models that can be used for the success of the company. Among these models, the models that were chosen here are “Lewis Forcefield Analysis” and hard elements of “McKinsey`s 7S” model. These can be implemented for evaluating the change management of the company. The description of these is as follows.

Collin's Good to Great model

For Encourage and Accomplices, the principal question would be tied in with recognizing what they can be the most incredible on the planet at. Cultivate and Accomplices is an eminent engineering and configuration firm known for its creative and supportable structural tasks. They may be best on the planet at making famous, reasonable, and stylishly engaging structures that mix agreeably with their environmental factors.

The subsequent inquiry is tied in with understanding what drives Encourage and Accomplices' financial motor. In this specific situation, it very well may be their capacity to draw in high-profile clients, secure critical engineering projects around the world, and order a premium for their state-of-the-art plans and skill.

The third question connects with what Encourage and Accomplices are profoundly enthusiastic about. Their energy probably lies in building advancement, reasonable plans, and pushing the limits of what is conceivable in the realm of design.

Lewis Forcefield Analysis

This model is based on maintaining a balance between two forces. According to this theory, there are always two forces acting in any situation. In order to make changes it is needed to alterations of these forces (Rolnick et al. 2022). The name of these forces is “driving forces” and “restraining forces”. It is to be noted that in any particular equilibrium condition, these forces are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction. The process of implementation of this model in this company is as follows.

Lewin's Power Field Examination is a change in the executive's device that recognizes and dissects the powers that drive change and the powers that oppose change in a specific circumstance. By understanding these powers, associations can foster procedures to improve the main impetuses and moderate the limiting ones, eventually improving the probability of a fruitful execution of a change drive.

  • Recognize the Ideal Change: Obviously, characterize the particular business change that Cultivate and Accomplices expect to accomplish. This could be connected with process enhancements, computerized change, hierarchical rebuilding, or some other tremendous change drive.
  • Distinguish Main impetuses: These are the variables that push for the change and back its effective execution. Main thrusts could incorporate elements like market requests, cutthroat tensions, mechanical headways, or the craving to further develop productivity and benefit.
  • Distinguish Limiting Powers: These are the elements that block or oppose the change. Controlling powers could incorporate representative obstruction, absence of assets, authoritative culture, anxiety toward the obscure, or potential dangers related to the change.
  • Define change: The first thing that can be done is to specify the changes that are intended to be done in the company. It can be seen that the company is going to open its branches in Europe (Ancillo et al. 2021). So, the first thing that is needed to be done is to decide on the changes in the business strategy for the European region.
  • Mind map of driving forces: The driving forces for the business are needed to be decided first. One of the main driving forces that this company has is the huge demand for its products in the European region.
  • Mind map of restraining forces: Another thing that is needed to be done is to find out the restraining forces. The main restraining force that is present here is the increasing current companies of robotics that are present in the European region.
  • Evaluation of the forces: After finding out the forces it is required to evaluate the strength of the forces. This needs to be done for deciding in which force the required changes needed to be made.
  • Strategize: Strategies need to be made for making changes in the forces that can give the best results to the company.
  • In view of the examination, understudies can recommend methodologies to fortify the main impetuses and diminish the effect of limiting powers. This might include correspondence and commitment with representatives, giving important preparation, tending to worries, or making acclimations to the change plan.
  • Prioritize actions: It is the last step of this model. Here, all the decided actions are prioritized according to their importance. It is needed to obtain the best possible results.

Understudies ought to evaluate the strength and meaning of each driving and controlling power. It's critical to perceive that powers might change over the long run and their effect could shift relying upon the particular setting.

Hard 3S of McKinsey`s 7S model

It is another model that can be used for the evaluation of the “change management” strategies of the company. The 3S of this model are “strategy”, “structure”, & “system” (Gregurec et al. 2021). The description of this is as follows.

  • Strategy: It is one of the major steps for the evaluation of “change management” of a company. Here, organizational strategies are made for convincing the “stakeholders & employees”.
  • Structure: This refers to the different departments that are present in the company. It is to be noted that a well-balanced organizational structure can result in the proper distribution of work with quality outcomes.
  • Systems: A proper system needs to be maintained within the organization. It is because, with the use of the proper system, it becomes easy to get the best results out of the employees.
