NetApp, Inc. is a data management and hybrid cloud services company in America. It has its headquarters in Sunnyvale of California. It has secured a high rank within Fortune 500 since the year of 2012. The company was originally founded in 1992 and had an IPO in the year 1995 (Alter, et al, 2019). The company specifically offers services in data cloud and management of various data and application both offline and online.  In this report the key strength and weaknesses of NetApp’s business undertakings will be identified. The portfolio of the services provided by them will be analyzed after that. Major competitors of the company will be identified and lastly the marketing strategies used by the company will discussed.

Net App.Inc is one of the leading firms in its specific industry. There are numerous areas of strength that help it grow within the market place. However it also has some weakness that the company can improve upon to increase their profits.  A key area of strength is that they have an unbeaten track record for developing brand new products. They have also built a strong culture with dealers and distributors. Performing in a rather superior manner in New Markets is another Key area of strength. Next, activities automation has brought a certain level of consistency of services and products NetApp (Knight and Balasubramanian, 2019). Lastly, the firm has a highly skilled workforce that they acquire through proper selection, suitable training and other learning programs. Major areas of weakness of the business operations of NetApp . Inc involves a lack in efficient and proper financial planning. The product range sold by the company has certain gaps that need to be resolved. Another major point of weakness is that they invest insufficiently for the incorporation of new technology. Next, investment made for the purpose of research and development by the company is also below the other growing players within the industry. They leave a lot of the marketing to be desired. Lastly, the attrition rate within the workforce is rather high that works as a major weakness for the company

NetApp further provides a variety of services in Cloud business including Volumes of Cloud On-Prem involving Cloud Volume services and ONTAP Cloud Volumes (Lin, etal., 2018). Further services provided by the company under cloud business include Astra, Private Storage of NetApp, Cloud Sync, SaaS backup NDAS and Cloud insights. Data Fabric is also vital product offered by the company. Next, they provide a varied number of services in Software integration such as Recovery and Backup, Automation involving CI/CD and Docker, OpenStack and Enterprise Applications.

Competitors

The major competition of NetApp is present in the hardware industry of computer data storage. In this specific industry the company has some major competitors. Top competitors of NetApp include DELL EMC, Hitachi Vantara, PureStorage, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and IBM (Kesavan, et al., 2018). Aside from these main competitors, the company also faces significant competition from some other companies such as Nutanix, StorePool, Commvault, Quantum and Nexan. NetApp faces high competition from major competitors mentioned earlier. Still the company has managed to secure the #1 rank in Primary Storage according to Gartner.

Marketing Strategies

As stated by the Association of American marketing, marketing can be defined as a set of specific activities that the firm carries out for creating communicating, exchanging and delivering offerings that have suitaible value for clients, society, partners and customers. NetApp. Inc have undertaken a number of overhauls for the purpose of upgrading their design of channel strategy. Due to this undertaking of upgrades, NetApp accounted for about 46% of overall sales in North America in 2006. The senior management of the company announced that the company expects to grow their revenue by 30% in the year of 2007. Within this, half of the growth would be coming from channel sales and to achieve this goal, several strategies were employed for the purpose of resolving several issues related to channel sales program.
