AIM/PURPOSE |
To evaluate the impact of uncertainties on the decision making process within the multinational organization. |
ARTICLE TYPE |
Scholarly research articles- empirical qualitative research |
METHOD |
For identifying the impact of uncertainties, secondary study has been conducted by the researcher. For maintaining accuracy, the researcher has focused over deciding inclusive and exclusive criteria for the secondary data. Sample: Selected 117 articles from 23 different sources The researcher has set out inclusive criteria which indicate that articles must be peer reviewed, published in scientific journals and should ranked 3 or 4 according to journal guide. Research approach: Inductive approach was used to evaluate the secondary data and to make the large number of assumption. For improving the efficiency of the collected data, researcher should select more articles which will help in providing the wider knowledge regarding the research issue. Along with this, most of the articles do not qualify the inclusion criteria but then also researcher has selected such articles that impacted the accuracy of the study. Moreover, the researcher could opted for the primary study that would help in better understanding the manager’s issues while taking decision at the time of uncertainty. This will help in overcoming the risk of inaccurate data and support in better and in-depth evaluation of research issue. |
FINDINGS |
The articles commences with the description regarding the influence of uncertainties in hampering overall decision making process within the multinational corporation. This research includes 13 dimensions of uncertainties that impact the decision making and focuses over eight dimensions through which such uncertainties are managed. Additionally, the research emphasized on five characteristics that individual needs for making the accurate decision. The research indicates that uncertainties are the only issue which impacts the decisions making process of MNC’s. However, Pelissari et al, (2021) stated that organizational culture; social, personal and economical are the major factors which impact the effectiveness of MNC’s decision. Optimal decision making process could be initiated if the five characteristics are possessed by the individual. This includes the tolerance for ambiguity, decision making orientation, Collectivist orientation, decision making orientation and hierarchical position. On the other hand, the ability to define problem, reasoning ability and critical thinking are the three major characteristics that should be presented within individual while taking any decision. Supplemental, Imitation, flexibility, collaboration, avoidance and control are five approaches for tackling the uncertainties. According to miller’s approach to uncertainly network, information gathering and collaboration are measures for handling unpredictable situations. |
CONCLUSION |
Uncertainty is the major issue that impacts the efficiency of decision making within multinational cooperation’s. An uncertainty leads to the fragmented and conflicting finding which creates problem for MNCs. Furthermore, the behavior of individual taking decision during uncertainties changes to influential. |
RELATIONSHIP TO OTHER ANNOTATED REFERENCES |
According to Tang et al, (2022) future studies should be conducted on generalization of diverse uncertainly construct that help in better managing overall uncertainties and improving decision making process. This suggestion has been elaborated by Wang and Garg (2021) as it stated that future research should be combined with wider uncertainties spectrum within single study. Wang et al, (2021) determined that uncertainties will arise at each level of decision making, but the flexibility, visibility and decisive nature of manager support in overcoming such situation. Along with this, Xiao, We and Pedrycz (2022) professed that characteristic that influences manager’ perception should also be examined that help in taking proactive actions and avoiding uncertainties. |
STRENGTHS |
The article is effective as it follows a logical sequence and provides insight into all the crucial aspect related to the topic. The researcher has connected the finding with past data and articles that helps in developing the better understanding about the research issue. Further, the qualitative method used by the researcher is effective as it helps in understanding the manager’s perception and issues related to the uncertainties. |
WEAKNESSES |
The articles have effectively supported by past studies but the critical analysis of the finding has not been provided. There is a lack of cross sectional studies which create issues in gaining the wider knowledge regarding the research topic. Further, some old references, related to before seven years, hampers the reliability of the data and overall findings. The data has collected from the less number of articles which do not provide in-depth information related to the research problem. |
