Key Skills for Academic Success: Time Management, Researching, and Note-Taking
There are various types of skills which are required by the students in effectively accomplishing their goals. Time management, researching and note-taking are three crucial skills which should be gained and acquired by each individual (Kopetz and Steiner, 2022). Time management refers to the process of allocating and distributing the total amount of time in different activities for the accomplishment of entire task effectually. There are large number of activities and tasks which are involved in the degree of tourism and business management. Time management skill helps in prioritising all the activities and helps in enhancing the productivity of students (Asaly-Zetawi and Lipka, 2019). I have learnt the importance of time management form my last year semester exam’s experiences. During my last year exam, there was a lot of syllabus which I need to complete in 15 days. On the top of it, there was a tennis tournament the day after my exams for which I need to do practices on regular basis. I tried to complete all the things together without properly dividing equitable time to each activity. This results into increasing frustration as well as burden and meanwhile I was unable to do any activities with utmost efficiency. Therefore, after one week I decided to leave the practices and focused on the completion of my syllabus (Tang, 2020). I was having ample of syllabus which I unable to complete in one week leading to getting disappointing results. The results obtained from the tournament were not in my favour as I was unable to practices on the regular basis leading to not getting desired outcome. From this experience I was able to understand that activities could be done more effectively I have management my all work previously and according to time. I should have allotted adequate hours to each activity which will help in completing academic course and provide time for extra activities (Succi and Canovi, 2020). I have adopted various activities and techniques by which my note making skills have been improved. I have started writing down all the projects and other activities which I needs to accomplish according to their priority. This helps me in dividing the total time accordingly leading to reduction in work load and helps in effectively accomplishing my task.
The Benefits of Note-Taking in Personal and Professional Life
One of the traits that I believe helped me a lot in my life is note taking as I was not habitual of this activity in the initial stage. However, during my higher class study one of my tutor told me to make a note. Note taking refers to organising all the information in an organised manner which helps in recognising all important things (Gul, Tahir and Batool, 2021). This habit of mine has helped me a lot in my day to day activity. First benefit that I got is punctuality, or I can say always be on time. I generally used to note down the time and location along with the reason of going to that place that has helped me a lot in reaching on time and also be ready with all the elements that are required for that specific meeting. This punctuality always used to create a good impression of mine over other (Van Laar et al, 2020). Along with good first impression I also used to get the benefit of time saving. Skills pertaining to being on time helped me in completing task or activities within suitable period. Another benefit of note making is learning along with scheduling, making note of all the important that comes your way generally refreshes your knowledge every time you go through that notes.. This eventually used to help me in refreshing my learning along with scheduling as well (Jani et al, 2020). Proper time management helped in making specific scheduling for the specific task that comes your way. This helps me in getting ready with all the responses that are required out of the notes that are being prepared by me (Martin, Stamper and Flowers, 2020). There are some drawbacks of note making as well such as time consuming work.
The Impact of Research Skills on My Education and Career
One of the biggest weaknesses of mine that turns into my strength is the researching skill of mine; this turnaround was all because of the webinar that was attained by me during my higher studies (Rebele and Pierre, 2019). This seminar has built good research skill of mine. This trait has helped me in building diverse knowledge in different area of learning. Researching skill of mine has helped me a lot in stock exchange side as in the past I was not having that prominent knowledge about that area but with the help of different keywords and I have learn all the basic of stock market and exploring the same for few more month has eventually brought number of feature of the same and because of all these thing only I am into the trading market for more than year now and doing good. Hence, research skill has helped me in learning new things. Another benefit that I have got of my research skill is building good impression in my college (Nair and Fahimirad, 2019). On the back of good research skill I used to find it easy to find out of the solution of all the questions that were asked by the tutor this has eventually created good impression of mine over tutor in the college. During the degree, research skill helped in completing my module assignment in an appropriate manner. With this, I have evaluated several tourism concepts and included in my assignment. This helped me a lot in getting higher marks which further improved my grades. I also, used to help my colleague with the solution all because of my research skill that has helped me in building good relation with my companion in the college. Hence, research skill has helped me a lot in my personal/professional life.
CONCLUSION
