Introduction to : FDY3008 Investigation and Innovation Project
Investigation and innovation project is aimed to investigate and evaluate the strategies or solutions to new changed innovative practices. This is termed as a strategic project that proposes methods of implementation to identify key development areas during investigation and fosters innovation with implementation of strategies for the achievement of goals. This project will summarise about the issue of cybercrime, defined as criminal activity, involved with the use of network devices or computer. It emerged as a global issue in which computer is used as an crucial instrument to meet the illegal objectives such as web trafficking, for commitment of fraudulent activities, violation of privacy and stealing identity, sensitive information and vulnerabilities of business.
The problem of cybercrime is further linked with the Goal 16 of Sustainable Development goals (SDGs) that states about Justice and peace. Combating cybercrime with SDG 16 underpins about the significance of principle of anti-corruption that aims to minimize cybercrime and technical corruptions. Moreover, Goal 16 of SDGs promotes just, inclusive and peaceful societies with establishment of accountable, effective and inclusive institution to decline cybercrime at all levels. For effective tackling of problem of cybercrime, promotion of awareness and education was proposed as practical solution as it helps individuals to identify, recognize and avoid cyber-attacks through increased knowledge by training and education.

MAIN BODY
Project Report: Addressing Cybercrime as a Global Threat to Sustainable Development
The project report was based on the problem of cybercrime that includes information technology crime such as hacking, online fraud and web trafficking, violation of privacy and stealing identity. In recent times, there is an emerging trend of leveraging advanced technologies in every sector with an aim to enhance efficiency and productivity (Erling and Richardson, 2020). As a result, issues related to cybercrime have significantly increasing. This topic was chosen in this project as it emerges as global threat, leads to breach of security and sensitive data, results in increased cyber offense. Study on the cybercrime issue aims to protect technologies and network from unethical and unauthorized exploitation. As per the reference of Gibbs effective model, this topic has been described as sensitive as it has adverse impact on growth and sustainable development of nation (Tuononen et al, 2022). In addition, for development of strategic solution to mitigate issue of cybercrime, this topic was chosen to improve academic skills and knowledge.
At initial stage of project, I was quite nervous and stressed as I have limited knowledge about cybercrime as an emerging issue and its mitigation. While carrying put this project, I developed skills of project scheduling, organization and decision making, helped me to schedule tasks and making decision related to sourcing materials and resources in completion of project on time in accuracy and efficiency. Besides that, academic skills related to critical thinking, writing skills and communication played a vital role in completion of project (Elander et al, 2021). For example: skills of critical thinking assist me to connect the problem of cybercrime with the SDGs of peace and justice. These skills further helped to analyse its impact on sustainable performance and growth of nations and economic sectors (Greenwalty, 2023). During the project, my communication skills were improved as I communicate with my tutor about gaining relevant information and guidance on project. This results in increased morale and confidence, makes me feel happy.
While carrying out this assignment, I analysed that project management skills such as organization and scheduling of tasks and decision making will help me in my professional career in future. These skills will help me to formulate effective decisions while scheduling of tasks in strategic manner, leads to enhance chances of success and professional growth. For example: I developed skills of critical thinking that will assist in effective decision making by accessing options and its consequences, leads to selection of best options. Time management skills helped in to divide time for each project task that aims to attain high efficiency and accuracy within research (Gnepp et al, 2020). On contrary, research skills enable me to enhance my learning and knowledge about cybercrime and sustainable development goals. This allows me to find useful and relevant information from authentic blogs and articles from reproach scholars, online website and through journals and books.
Reflective Analysis and Skill Development for Effective Cybercrime Research
However, Gibbs reflective model helped me to analyse that my problem solving and note making skills needs to be improved. Lack of problem solving imposes restriction in exploring both creative and analytical approaches, due to which effectiveness of research was slightly minimized (Wuillamie, 2022). For example: a limited skill of problem solving creates complexities in data analytics about issue of cybercrime, results in missed research opportunities and low morale. On contrary, while competition of project, I realized that my notes making skills are limited due to which I faced challenges in asking questions and analyse and summarize of key points related to cybercrime. From project management perspective, limited technical skills emerge as weakness due to which I faced complexities in effective research about cybercrime issue and its practical solution.
I overcome challenges of declined accuracy and exploration of opportunities due to lack of technical and notes making skills with adoption of strategy of mind mapping and review of notes. In addition, I attended conferences, seminars and webinars to improve my technical skills. In addition, watching tutorials and training about use of advanced technologies and tools is another measure by which technical skills could be improved (Rama et al, 2023). In week 4 of class, I discussed about the problem of cybercrime and its negative impact in the nation’s sustainable development goal, linked with SDD 16 of justice and peace. This leads to enhance knowledge and understanding about cybercrime and assist towards identification of practical solution to mitigate it (Martins, 2024). In addition, I discussed about planned solution of Promotion of educational and awareness among individuals and society helps in the effective mitigation of issue of cybercrime.
During the formative submission of project, I received feedback from my tutor that highlights key development areas related to improving data analytics and technical skills. This comprehensive feedback helps me to improve technical skills and data analytics by which I provide evidence based on current data to strengthen my findings. In addition, I used technical skills for improved research quality and to make my assignment more creative and innovative with systematic presentation. I used this feedback for the improvement in technical and data analytics skills, results in making my assignment more effective, accurate and conclusive with attached evidences of latest data.
CONCLUSION
The above reflection report summarises about potential issue of cybercrime, carried out with the use of technical or network devices of computers to accomplish unethical motive. This problem was further linked with the Goal 16 of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as it aimed to foster just, inclusive and peaceful societies with minimized cybercrimes. This goal focuses in the enhancing cyber capacity and peace among communities with establishment of cyber resilient development as there are high level of insecurity and cybercrime that has destructive impact on the development and sustainable development of nation. For effective mitigation of cybercrime issue, promotion of education and awareness was proposed as practical solution was concluded in this report.
Gibbs reflective model was implemented in this project to analyse and evaluate key project management and academic skills. Skills of project management such as scheduling and organization of project tasks and decision making emerges as strengths. In addition, multiple academic skills, includes research skills, communication, writing and critical thinking skills were improved. However, challenges related to declined accuracy and exploration of opportunities was emerged due to lack of technical and notes making skills. Strategy of attending seminars and conferences and review of collected information and notes was identifies to overcome these challenges.
